The 911 Dispatcher Supervisor confirmed they have seen an increase in calls and people stating that they were in our watch program. The arrest of the three boys was a result of a call from a member of our watch program. This lead to solving 7 burglaries in our community.

Yesterday, School Resource Officer Cpl. Roy Leon was at Terra Linda High School investigating the burglary of the school’s “snack shack.”  The snack shack, a conex storage container used to store candy and snacks sold at athletic events, was broken into and vandalized over the weekend of March 23^rd.  Food, cash and supplies totaling $180.00 were taken and the box sustained extensive damage.  Cpl. Leon received information that a 16 year old TLHS student may have been involved.  The male student was interviewed and admitted to the burglary.  Further investigation implicated two of his friends as accomplices, one who is currently a senior at the school and the other a TLHS graduate.  They were interviewed by San Rafael detectives and all three admitted involvement in numerous burglaries and vandalisms in the Terra Linda, Marinwood, and Santa Venetia neighborhoods.   The trio was arrested for the school burglary and additional charges will soon follow.

Kyle Collins, 19, and Kyle McGauley, 18, were arrested for burglary and vandalism.  A search of McGauley’s car produced a pellet gun and ammunition and resulted in the additional charges of bringing a weapon and ammunition on to school grounds for McGauley.  Both adults were booked at Marin County Jail and their bail was set at $15,000.  The juvenile was booked at Marin County Juvenile Hall on charges of burglary and vandalism.

A Novato man was arrested Friday in connection with two armed robberies last month in San Rafael, police said.

Damien Truscott, 28, was taken into custody at his apartment, where investigators were executing a search warrant Friday night, said San Rafael police Sgt. Mike Vergara.

Both robberies were daytime holdups in Terra Linda. The first occurred Feb. 14 at the Gateway Gas station at 1005 Northgate Drive; the second on Feb. 28 at the Union 76 gas station on Del Presidio Boulevard.

In the Union 76 case, an employee fought with the robber and was struck in the head several times with a weapon, police said.

Based on the witness descriptions and surveillance images, police concluded early on that the two robberies might have been committed by the same person. The police department released a composite sketch of the robber and video from the heist at Gateway Gas.

“We got a very violent person off the street,” Vergara said. “These were very violent crimes.”

Police have not disclosed the losses in the two robberies.
